Revisiting the Orphanage and Katazoe Campground

Joel and I had the chance to go with our church back to the orphanage in Hiroshima. Those kids are truly precious and so welcoming. We played games for a bit, ate cupcakes and had a grand time. :)

This kid is going to be a comedian - he was HILARIOUS! He was trying to "torture" Joel with a piece of tape. He would put it on Joel and then rip it off very dramatically. :-p

Who doesn't love cupcakes? :)

Since the 4th of July was on a Wednesday this year, we decided to go down to the Katazoe Campground on Oshima Island (about an hour away from our house) on Tuesday evening so we could wake up at the beach.
We were practically the only people at the campground since it was in the middle of the week. This is the building where you check in and get your sheets.

If we had wanted to tent camp, we would have stayed in one of these sites.

View from the cabin.
Our friends, Kim and Keith, went down with us and brought some yummy cheesy bar-b-cue burgers for dinner!

We didn't realize that when we heard the cabin would sleep 4 it meant single beds. Joel and I decided to share the top bunk, LOL.

Kim and Keith shared the beds in the back - definitely Japanese style with hard mats instead of matresses and lots of blankets.

Ready for the beach!

Keith didn't want anyone else to have the football.

Joel thought it was chilly - what a wuss. It was JULY.

Ironically, it started pouring down rain 10 minutes after we got out there so we packed it up and headed home. Really anti-climactic but still lots of fun!
